What, not how

What DCAA requires, and how you solve it

DCAA tells you what your accounting system has to achieve. It does not tell you how to build it. The requirement is fixed. The mechanism is yours.

Every requirement on the left comes from the SF-1408 criteria, the same criteria a DCAA auditor checks. The right column is one way to meet it in day-to-day accounting. There is no single approved product or method: what matters is that the outcome holds up.

How WiseCost helps. WiseCost is built to deliver the right column on top of QuickBooks Online: separated cost pools, contract-level job cost, compliant timekeeping and labor distribution, indirect rate calculation, unallowable-cost screening, and billings that reconcile to the books. You keep QuickBooks; the compliance layer sits on top.

Requirements drawn from Standard Form 1408, Section II, the criteria a DCAA auditor applies during the pre-award accounting system review (Audit Program 17740). Public at dcaa.mil. Educational summary, not a substitute for the official criteria or your CPA.
